Golden Valley senior programs
Brookview Community Center (unless other location noted) will host the following upcoming programs:
• Money Matters: topic for 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, is “Taxes for Next Year.” Taxes and speakers for 2013 will be discussed. Attendees are encouraged to bring speaker ideas. No registration required. Coffee and treats available. Donations accepted.
• Tai-Chi classes: Several tai chi classes will be available in the upcoming new year:
Tai Chi for Health and Arthritis-Basic meets 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan.8, and runs to Feb. 19. Learn a series of gentle, yet powerful, easy-to-learn movements that promote effective physical and mental well-being. Great for joint pain relief and fall prevention. Taught by Certified Instructor Marie Mathay. Wear comfy clothes.
Tai Chi for Health and Arthritis 2-Moving On: Meets 9:45-1045 a.m. Tuesdays starting Jan 8. For persons who have completed at least one session of Tai Chi. Taught by Certified Instructor Marie Mathay and endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation. Wear comfy clothes. The cost of these classes is $45 for Golden Valley residents and $50 for non-residents. Tai Chi Health and Arthritis Enhancement meets 8:30 a.m. Thursdays starting Jan 10. Add a second day to practice and enhance Tai Chi experience. This class is for all levels of Tai Chi. Participants must be registered in a Tuesday class to participate in the Enhancement class. Cost is $35 for Golden Valley residents and $40 for non-residents.
