‘Act Out’ at Hennepin County Libraries this month

In collaboration with the Guthrie Theater, Hennepin County Library will present 12 free theatre workshops for children, teens and adults in January. The winter “Act Out” workshops began in December and run through February. They teach basic theatre technique.

The workshops are funded by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Registration is required.

Here are upcoming “Act Out” workshops:

Act Out for Teens: Acting Games for Beginners, 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Pierre Bottineau Library, 55 Broadway Street N.E., Minneapolis. Open to grades 6-9.

Act Out for Adults: Be Heard!, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Ridgedale Library, 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka.

Act Out for Teens: Intro to Physical Comedy, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Southdale Library, 7001 York Ave. S., Edina. Open to grades 6-9.

Act Out for Teens: Acting Games for Beginners, 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Eden Prairie Library, 565 Prairie Center Drive. Open to grades 9-12.

Act Out for Teens: Acting Games for Beginners, 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Louis Park Library, 3240 Library Lane. Open to grades 6-9.

Act Out for Adults: History of Theater, 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Brooklyn Park Library, 8600 Zane Ave. N.

Act Out for Teens: Acting Games for Beginners, 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at North Regional Library, 1315 Lowry Ave. N., Minneapolis. Open to grades 6-9.

Act Out for Kids: Playmaking, 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Rogers Library, 21300 John Milless Drive. Open to grades 3-5.

Act Out for Adults: Intro to Shakespeare, 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Ridgedale Library, 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka.

Act Out for Kids: Storymaking, 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall. Open to grades 1-2.
