Earle Brown Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization hosted a Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with the parent teacher conferences Jan. 23-25 in Brooklyn Center. The Brooklyn Center Lions Club also had a dinner in the school cafeteria during the event Jan. 23. Proceeds from the book fair supported the school’s efforts to purchase new materials in the media center. The school is also starting a read-a-thon and fundraiser for the media center in February. Students will record the number of pages they read by themselves and with their families and turn in the results to their teacher each week. The school’s goal is to collectively read one million pages in six weeks. Donations to help replenish the media center collection can be made to the Earle Brown Parent Teacher Organization, 1500 59th Ave. N., Brooklyn Center. Families may also turn in donations to their child’s teacher by Friday, March 8.
