Valentine’s Day crafts in New Hope
What’s Valentine’s Day without cards and chocolate hearts? At Valentine Craft Party Saturday, Feb. 9, kids will create Valentine’s Day cards and mix up a batch of “chocolate” clay to create clay hearts. The program is a Kid Create Studio class. A session for children ages 3-6 is scheduled 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a session for youth ages 7-12 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. The program meets at the Crystal Community Center, 4800 Douglas Drive.
The fee is $18 for residents New Hope, Crystal or Robbinsdale and $25 for nonresidents. To register or for more information, call the New Hope Parks and Recreation Department at 763-531-5151. The deadline to register is Feb. 1.
Learn the basics of making, coloring and decorating with tasty buttercream icing at “Buttercream Basics: Valentine Heart Cake” 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Crystal Community Center, 4800 Douglas Drive.
Participants ages 13 and up will learn how to make the perfect frosting, then frost and decorate a Valentine’s cake with different sizes of hearts. Students need to bake and bring one or two layers of 8- to 9-inch round cakes in a cake carrier and a hand mixer.
Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Parent and child pairs only need to pay one class fee, unless they would like to complete two projects. The fee is $22 per person for residents of New Hope, Crystal or Robbinsdale, and $29 for nonresidents.
