Four potential developers have expressed interest in the City Center project at 42nd and Winnetka avenues in New Hope.
The New Hope City Council got an update on the redevelopment process at a Feb. 19 work session. Stacie Kvilvang, senior financial advisor/director with Ehlers, an independent financial advisory company, presented outcomes of meetings staff conducted with 11 potential developers to gauge their interest in the former Kmart property, as well as the Winnetka Learning Center and golf course sites.
“There is a lot of interest in all three sites,” Kvilvang said.
Four developers emerged as having interest in the former Kmart site, she added, saying, “They have done every type of development you want to see.”
The developers include:
• The Beard Group, Inc., a company that developed Market Place and Main Apartments in Hopkins, and Village Creek retail in Brooklyn Park.
• KM Anderson Builders, which did Urban Village in Richfield and St. Albans Villas/condos and Marina in Greenwood.
• Amcon Construction, a company that has done medical facilities in Blaine, Fridley and Coon Rapids, Windsor Plaza in Eden Prairie, JRA Financial in Maple Grove and a new clubhouse at Bunker Hills Golf Course.
• Sherman Associates Inc., a firm which developed the Midtown Exchange in the former Sears building, Riverside Plaza and the Longfellow Station project, all in Minneapolis.
