Brooklyn Center seeks charter commissioner
The Brooklyn Center Charter Commission has a member vacancy for a four-year term. The commission members are volunteers and meetings are held quarterly at Brooklyn Center City Hall, 6301 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn Center.
The Charter Commission reviews the existing charter, considers proposed changes and makes recommendations to the city council. It also safeguards the concept of Home Rule under the existing charter and Home Rule provisions in the state statutes.
The Charter Commission consists of 15 members who are appointed and certified by the chief judge of Fourth Judicial District Court in Hennepin County. The qualifications for membership require that the individual be a qualified voter in Brooklyn Center.
