Brooklyn Park Police warn of scams
Brooklyn Park Police are warning the public about two scams.
In three instances, the scammer posed as a utility company employee and told the residents to purchase a reloadable debit card at Walgreens (Green Dot card) and call him back with the number on the back of the card to pay for the utility bill or the service would be terminated. The phone number all victims have been told to call was 908-989-0509.
The other victim was scammed by purchasing amusement park tickets through a legitimate-looking website. The scammer said the credit card machines were down and he’d have to go buy a reloadable debit card at CVS (My Vanilla card) and call with the number on the back. When the victim did, he lost his money.
