Brooklyn Park murder victim identified

Crime tapeThe Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the victim of last weekend’s shooting in Brooklyn Park as Chue Yeng Xiong, 24, of St. Paul.

According to the medical examiner’s office, Xiong died of a gunshot wound to the head at 1:29 a.m. March 24.

According to Inspector Todd Milburn of the Brooklyn Park Police, officers responded to a reported shooting at 1:29 a.m. March 24 on the 10000 block of Georgia Ave. N.

They found Xiong inside a home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers located a vehicle leaving the scene and initiated a traffic stop on Highway 610, Milburn said. Three adult males were taken into custody.

Back at the scene, the preliminary investigation led officers to arrest one adult on suspicion of a narcotics crime.

The follow-up investigation led to the arrest of two more murder suspects in Brooklyn Park.

Later police released four of the men arrested. The charging deadline for two of the men suspected of murder was extended to March 27.

The murder was the second in Brooklyn Park this year.

In response to the shooting, police scheduled a community meeting to the shooting for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 in Grand Room 1 of the Community Activity Center, 5600 85th Ave. N.
