Barre class offered at Crystal studio
MetroBeat and Dance, 3537 Douglas Drive N., Crystal, is offering a barre class.
The 60-90 minute workout utilizes major muscle groups in the body and includes ballet and yoga type stretches, core work, leg lifts, hand weights, Therabands and stability balls.
Classes are 9-10:30 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m., Mondays; 6:45-8:15 p.m., Wednesdays; and 9:15-10:15 a.m., Fridays. The fee is $10 per class.
Genealogy 101 is coming March 25
A course in genealogy will be held 2:15-3:45 p.m., Mondays, March 25 through May 13.
During this class, participants will learn why researching and writing about family history is a popular and growing pastime.
The course will teach the skill of collecting and organizing family history materials that are often found at home.
Participants will learn how to define a research project, find genealogical source materials, interpret the materials and incorporate them into the stories of their ancestors.
Lois Abromitis Mackin, a professional genealogist and a course coordinator for the Minnesota Genealogical Society, will teach the class. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, an affiliated program of the University of Minnesota College of Continuing Education presents this class.
The class is offered free and held at Crystal Community Center, 4800 Douglas Drive N.
Preschool Playtime is offered in Crystal
Children ages 1-5 have the chance to jump, crawl and build during Preschool Playtime, 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays.
A variety of play areas will be set up at Crystal Community Center, 4800 Douglas Drive N. Adult participation is required. One adult can supervise up to four children.
The fee is $2.75 per child, per session, or one punch on a punch card. A punch card can be purchased for $16 for residents and $23 for nonresidents.
Preschool Playtime is offered through March 27.
ZumbAtomic for kids set in March
ZumbAtomic will be offered for youth ages 6-12 at the Crystal Community Center, 4800 Douglas Drive North.
The class is high-energy and the choreography is designed with kid-friendly routines to hip-hop, raggaeton and cumbia music.
Participants will leave the class with self-confidence, better focus and boosted metabolism.
Session two will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m., through April 16. There will be no class March 26.
The fee is $30 per session for Crystal residents and $37 per session for nonresidents.
