Calvary Lutheran Church hosted its annual Hope for the Hungry event Jan. 22-28 to benefit Feed My Starving Children. The church’s goal was to pack 750,000 meals and raise $165,000 to fund the meals. Diana Rojas-Martinez, a member of the Allianz life distribution training team, said she volunteers because she wants to give back to the community and help those who need it. She has attended Calvary Lutheran Church’s Hope for the Hungry event for the past four years. Dave Nelson, a Calvary Church volunteer, participates in his fifth Hope for the Hungry event. Nelson views volunteering as a way to serve God.
