The clinic will offer urgent care, employer health services, basic wellness and prevention services on a walk-in only basis. Clinic staff members will be able to treat minor injuries and minor illness, including cough and colds, sports injuries such as strains and other more serious health issues.
“I think it’s important to focus on the breadth of service that we offer,” said Alexander Gravelle, Minnesota area manager. “It’s not just your normal cough and cold. We take care of some higher acuity situations as well, so we can take care of the sprains, the strains the broken bones, the basic wellness and preventative, the employer health services which extend to our employer partners in our communities as well for drug testing, breath alcohol testing, workers [compensation] injury care, the lab and x-ray services that we offer on site. It’s a very broad scope that we feel will fill the needs of most of the population here in this area.”
The facility has X-ray and lab equipment and will staff a full medical team, including radiologic technologists.
“We know how difficult unexpected illness or injury can be for families and employees,” Gravelle said. “At MedExpress, we want to make it easy for patients to get back on their feet.”
If a patient has an injury or illness that is beyond the scope of what the facility offers, staff members will refer patients to an outside clinic. Gravelle said the clinic does not partner with any particular clinic for these services.
“Our goal is to work as cohesively as we can with all of our peers and partners across the health care landscape,” he said.
“That includes working with our partnering emergency departments, large health care systems, primary care physicians, any specialists that we would need to refer out to. We’re more than happy to work very closely with them to make sure that patients get the appropriate level of care … that they deserve,” Gravelle added.
Including the Brooklyn Park location, MedExpress has six Minnesota locations, with as many as 13 more coming to the state throughout the rest of the year. They have a total of 201 centers in 15 states.
MedExpress is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
