Cooper hosts conference relay meet

With the track and field season in full swing, the Cooper track and field team kicked off its conference schedule by hosting the Metro West Conference relay meet April 25.

The Hawks participated in a pair of meets to kick off the season, but the Metro West Conference relay meet marked Cooper’s biggest meet of the season.

Victor Bangura (eighth-place, 110-meter hurdles; second-place 300-meter hurdles), Cole Bursch (fifth-place 300-meter hurdles), Tony Madison (eighth-place, shot put; sixth-place, discus throw), and Isaiah Wallace (sixth-place, long jump; seventh-place triple jump) notched top-10 finishes for the Cooper boys at the Metro West Conference relay meet.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Nascier Borden, Isaac Amoussou-Kpakpa, Phoenix Sproles and Terrance Nicholson finished second at the meet.

Ajihanna Jackson (11th place, shot put), Muna Abrahim (eighth-place, high jump; seventh-place triple jump), Mai Savane (first-place triple jump), and Lizzy Smude (fourth-place, triple jump) recorded top-11 finishes for the Hawks.

Cooper will take place in its next meet of the season at the Edina Invite at 4 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Edina Community Center.
