Park Center seniors look back before moving forward

Six Park Center Senior High students recently reflected on their most memorable moments from high school and looked forward to plans after graduation. The Sun Post worked with the staff at Park Center to gather and compile the information. Special thanks to Jackie Palmer, Christopher Cary and Michael Vecellio.

Favorite Memory: “Soccer season. Throughout the years I met so many people, and I was fortunate enough to be the soccer captain. It was nice to lead the team. I loved all that school sports helped me get involved in and all the people I met from it.”
Advice: “Get involved in school activities, clubs, and sports. It will help so much with college applications and to get involved in the school it creates a big family feel.”
Future Plans: “I will be attending the University of Minnesota Duluth, majoring in biology, minoring in chemistry.” Dalton Lougiu

Favorite Memory: “I enjoyed the extracurricular activities that my school had to offer. I was a member of a few different musical and competition one-act casts. Theater was the best part of my high school career. The past winter our competition one-act “The Prodigal Son” got first place in our subsection, and it was an incredible experience.”
Advise: “Be yourself and don’t be afraid to things that are out of your comfort zone.”
Future Plans: “I plan on attending the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2017 to study marketing.” Derrick Ogechi

Favorite Memory: “Getting the opportunity to represent your school and competing against rival schools [in basketball]. The best feeling is putting on the Pirate jersey and going to give it my all every single game, and that’s something I’m going to miss about high school.”
Advice: “I would tell everyone to pick classes that you would enjoy and do well in every single class because it all counts.”
Future Plans: “I will be attending Dordt College, and I will be furthering my education in exercise science as well as my athletic career playing basketball.” Itzel Hernandez

Favorite Memory: “My favorite memory from high school is the pep fests that we had each trimester. Being able to show our school spirit and having fun was definitely something I enjoyed. I also enjoyed going to our football games that we had.”
Advice: “Always do your work, no matter how insignificant it may seem because it actually makes a huge difference when it comes to your overall grade. Stay focused and always try your best. Also, ask questions if you don’t understand something.”
Future Plans: “This is a big question. My plans for the future are to be able to travel to different parts of the world, to learn about other countries’ cultures and to make friends with different cultural and different points of views about the world. I also plan to get married and buy a big house so I have as many dogs as possible.” Lily Truong

Favorite Memory: “All the wonderful, silly and good connections shared with many teachers.”
Advice: “You do not want to wait until the last minute to get everything done. Finish strong and make yourself proud because you are the who’s kept it all together and pushed yourself.”
Future Plans: “I’m joining National Guard, and for now, a general associates degree from a community college.” Wilson Bernards

Favorite Memory: “Going fishing and taking nature walks in outdoor adventure with Mr. Westermann.”
Advice: “High school is important and fun. Don’t let the fun get in the way of your future.”
Future Plans: “I plan on attending Mankato State University next fall, either for automotive engineering or construction management.”
