Volunteers helped stock shelves Aug. 31 at Festival Foods after the store closed due to a fire on July 16. Brooklyn Park City Councilmember Terry Parks helped organize a group of 44 people working in three separate shifts to help speed up the process of restocking.
“I want my store back,” Parks said.
A group of firefighters also signed on to volunteer at Festival on their day off.
“It’s really just what we do,” said Mike Maurer, battalion chief and treasurer of the Brooklyn Park Professional Firefighters International Association of Fire Fighters Local 5031. “It’s just another way to give back,” he said.
