ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 93: FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION AND ADD CHAPTER 93A: FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION

The City Council has determined that pursuant to its City Charter, Ordinance #2017-1219 should be published in summary form.

The City of Brooklyn Park does ordain:

Ordinance #2017-, Repealing Chapter 93: Fire Prevention and Protection and add Chapter 93A: Fire Prevention and Protection, to the City Code.

The purpose of Chapter 93A is to provide for the health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of the City of Brooklyn Park through the regulation of State Fire Code and the local requirements related to this code.

The objectives of this new Chapter are:

(A) To eliminate the redundant language now contained within the State Fire Code.

(B) The adoption of ten of the twelve appendixes within the State Fire Code.

(C) The modification of two specific sections of the State Fire Code that assist in clarification to local requirements.

(D) A few edits and changes to the existing language.

This summary of Ordinance #2017- has been approved by the City Council on August 28, 2017. A printed copy of the full text of the ordinance is available for public inspection in the office of the city clerk.
